Family member of EEA national

Post by benz52 » Tue Oct 13, 2009 12:57 pm

Hi all,

I've got an odd situation here. My wife & our 3 children have just got their British citizenship, while I've got an ILR (been over 1 year), but will be technically eligible to apply in May 2010.

We plan to visit Europe a few times before my application in May 2010 (I am aware of the 90 day rule before applying for citizenship).

I need a schengen visa as I've got an Indian passport. But I also know that if I have an endoresement saying "Family member of EEA national", I do not need a visa whilst travelling with my partner.

What would be the best way forward? Can I even apply for that endorement or do I need to apply for the Schengen visa everytime? Can I get a Schengen visa for upto a year with minimum documents?

If I need to apply for the Schengen visa, is it true that I only need to provide our passports, 2 photographs, evidence of our marriage and that it is free of charge?

All help will be appreciated.

Thanks

U will need a visa. EEA Family Members are those who have residency under EEA rules - u r on UK rules if u have ILR.

Visa should be free if ur missus is a BC.

Do you know whether I need to submit my travel itinerary? We were required to submit this when we all had Indian passports.
