HSMP to T1 extention 3 years granted - my story

Post by chrisonrails » Wed Oct 14, 2009 12:27 pm

Hi,

First of all, thanks to the people from this forum. You are the best !
Here is the time line:

1) First application sent out on 24/08/2009

2) Got rejected due to old photo and received my docs on 19/09/2009 which is one day after my visa validity (18/09/2009)

3) Posted help on Immigrationboards.com, got some suggestions.

4) Phoned HO on 21/09/2009, the lady on the other end said no guarantee the fresh application will be accepted as my visa was already expired, but she also confirmed she cannot stop me resending the application.

5) Sent an fresh application with explanation of overstay on conver letter as well as the original reject letter as an evidence. Also stats details on D16, D17 on application form(Say 'Yes' to overstay) - 21/09/2009

6) Fee deducted on 22/09/2009

7) Acknowledge letter received on 29/09/2009

8) The previous application fee was refunded on 10/10/2009

9) Application approved on 13/10/2009

10) Received my docs on 14/10/2009

For visa expiry , my experiences is dont be panic as long as you have convincing explanation, HO are not bunch of unreasonable people. But do explain clearly in your cover letter and the application form.

It is issued from Sheffield. Same as the acknowledge letter.

Congratulations chrisonrails!
I've applied for my HSMP to Tier 1 extension and awaiting decision. Did you send a self addressed envelope with your application for the HO to return you docs?

Really good stuff... had read your earlier post and acknowledge it can be such an unnerving experience. Alls well that ends well.
