Hello all,

I got the following book: Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship, Second Edition, Second Impression 2007. The cover of my book says, 'The official publication valid for tests taken from April 2007.'

It is Second Impression and NOT Fouth Impression.

Is that ok? or do I need fourth impression book?

http://www.lifeinuktest.info/ is a good site designed to help people who are about to take the 'Life in the UK' test conducted by the Home Office for their British citizenship application and also for the people who are applying for a settlement visa. Information is all free compared to various other sites..

You can test yourself with free questions for the test at

Just passed my "Life In UK Test"

I think I over prepared it. Partly because some of the mock test returned incorrect answer which got me a bit worried. But the real test was dead easy and finished in 3 mins.

My advice ignore any questions in any mock test which is not covered in the book (there are many). There are some answer which are wrong.

Dont waste your money to buy the book. All is covered in www.freelifeintheuk.com which is chap 2 - 6.

Do the tests in www.lifeinuktest.info and some (not all) in www.life-in-uk-test.info

Wow, just 3 minutes !, that's very impressive !
Did that include time to double check your answers (I am sure you double checked) ?

No I didnt bother to double check as I knew the answers we re right.
I overprepared myself for this and wasted few extra hours of my life :)

I have recently passed the British Citizenship Test. I wanted to share my experience with you all. I looked for a

lot of resources on the web to help me study for the exam and ended up purchasing a test CD with over 2500 Questions.

This was definately the best investment and helped me pass the exam. It covers so many areas of the required chapters and you also get a pdf file with the chapters on it for studying, if you want to read the chapters.

http://www.britishcitizenship-test.co.uk/

The site also has a lot of useful information on the test (that is also included on the CD) to help you understand the process for booking the exam and some excellent study tips.

This has to be the best tool on the market for study, I hope you all find it useful as I did, I found the questions to be very similar to the actual exam, and didn't take me long to complete the exam.

Definately recommended, wish you all the best of luck with your exams, I hope this is useful.

i just passed life in the UK test. Even though lots of free material / QA available on internet, I preferred and bought the official material. I suggest everyone to buy and study these to avoid any confusion

My wife recently took (and successfully passed) the British Citizenship Test.

Whilst revising for the test, we didn't find any really good online tests she could use, so I put together a test to help her (It randomly selects 24 questions from a bank of over 500 questions). You can run the test as often as you like, and review which questions you got correct, and also those you got wrong. I've now put this all together in the following website: http://www.uk-citizenship-test.com.

Hope it proves to be helpful.

Its a very nice site, just had a look.
I used both the official material and some sites.
I kind of went through the same process...
finished the test in record time and decided to make a site (http://lifeuk.info/blog) to help people out.
I think the unique point about my site is the test taking methodology (kind on a filtering and efficient approach to studying).

Hi there,

Nice discussion.
Just came across an article regarding the failure of new immigrants in Canada and want to share. Check out:

you can pass the test anytime, and the certificate has got no expiry date.
earlier is the better because they might raise the test fee or change the test system.
most importantly you should read the question book too.
moreless the questions come from the question book, they do change the way of asking but they are the same question.

Hi Everyone

I prepared for a week and gave the test and was able to complete (and pass) the test in less than 2 minutes. Even the test supervisor was surprised and stated 'that was real quick'.

Anyone needing tips on passing the test, please send me a message.

I didn't use any CDs.

Made my own notes (total of approx. 12-15 pages) and everything came from the notes I had prepared for this test.
