Simple question:

Does student visa count towards the 5 year period required for ILR application?

I arrived in the uk in 2005 and have lived here eversince.

My visa status:

Feb 2005-sep 2006 > Student visa

Sep 2006-Present > Work Permit

Please could someone kindly advice me? Thanks x

Time spent on a student visa will not count towards the 5 years for ILR based on work permit employment. It would count towards an application based on 10 years continuos Legal stay however. Based on Current Rules you are not eligible for ILR until Sep 2009 (of course you can apply 28 days before the end of five year period) you should check to see how the new Probationary Citizenship rules scheduled to affect ILR applications from July 2011 will affect you.
