Work permit to Tier 1 validity dates

Hi

I was heard that when we change from WP to Tier1, the current workpermit stands cancelled and we'll be considered as Tier1 ?

and what's the date the tier 1 starts.? say my workpermit valid by march 2010 and applying now for Tier 1 general, in this case my tier1 3 year period starts after my work permit expiry date or the date of issue of tier 1.?

I think it starts as of the visa stamp date. As of that date you have leave to remain under Tier 1 and that supersedes your previous leave under WP.

I remember I read some irregular cases but as far as I know your new visa stamp date will be the day HO approve your Tier 1 application.
