Post by user_name » Mon Oct 19, 2009 12:57 pm

Hi All,

How many days usually take to get an acknowledgment receipt of the application?

Thanks!

Adding to ramesh's comment above, there are many occurances where people received approval before acknowledgment. Once fee is deducted from your account, you can sure that application is accepted and under process.

I think when they receive one's application, payment team opens the envelope and looks for the payment section (Section 1 on the application form). That is the reason why they want Section 2 starting on a new page instead of being overleaf of the last page of Section 1. Then they check the payment. The postal orders and credit/debit card payments are cleared immediately assuming no complications occur with the credit/debit card payment. For cheques, they might wait until the payment is cleared and it is paid into HO's account.

After the payment team finishes the job with the payment, they keep Section 1 in their records and they produce the acknowledgement letter. The acknowledgement letter states the applicant's PBS reference number and some general explanations like not contacting HO during the time where the application is processed within service standards, not sending additional documents unless asked by the caseworker, etc. Just a half full page of writing and nothing about the content or further situation of the application itself. In this forum, I have read approved applications even without the applicant's receiving the acknowledgement letter.

Then the payment team sends the application to a caseworker. Hence, if the payment is deduced (can be verified from credit/debit card balance or via the receipt of acknowledgement letter) first checkpoint is passed. The rest is the job of the caseworker.

I think you should wait more than 3-4 days.

I got mine after 6 days and at that time only random delivery offices were doing strikes but there is a national strike tommorow and day after which will disrupt everything.

Also bare in mind the reference letter has 2nd class post so it does not have any priority at all.

Is there any way to check the status of the process of application?
Can I track this using the Reference Number in the Acknowledgement letter?

Thanks!

There is no way to track accept calling homeoffice but they discourage that and they normally dont tell you anything before 14 weeks have elapsed.

Some people don't get the reference number because it gets lost in post in that case they can also find out by royal mail reference from your special or recorded delivery.
