Cheers guys, Thanks a lot for all of your support. Sid hope so you will recieve your letter today. Best of luck mate.

Igsu thanks for sharing your experience, i had the feeling that we both are with the same case worker. Will you please share that in which catagory you have applied your citizenship. As i have applied in HSMP(JR).
sidster007 wrote:Racing fire and igsu hang in there...I'm sure it'll work out for you guys eventually. Its probably just the case worker. Try calling the UKBA on a Thursday or Friday late evening (best time I think). As I mentioned on this forum earlier I am yet to see anyone's application being declined.

Taliska is right this process is horrible...the wait makes it painful indeed and all of us have experienced it. Infact I am still feeling it whilst waiting for my letter so that my council can book me for the next ceremony which will allow me to apply for the passport (all before December 18th i hope !!)

Two questions if any one can answer please...

1- Who deliver secure mail, is it delivered by Royal Mail or they have their own system.
2- Once you letter is posted how much time does it take to arrive.
Regards,
Tango..

Hi Tango Orange,

Securemail is a private courier company independent of Royal Mail which is why the HO might be using them. Their number is 08442773333.

I'm unclear myself regarding their delivery timelines as they still haven't delivered or even acknowledge that they have a letter for me from the HO (my decision letter). The HO on the other hand told me that they had sent the letter to me on Friday via securemail but they weren't able to provide me a tracking reference.

anyone else here know about Securemail's delivery timelines?

Regards

Sidster

Hi Kumar,

Its quite surprising that your application was approved on the same day that the acknowledgement letter was generated. The surprising part is that it took so long for your approval and invitation letter to get to you.

How did you receive the approval and invitation letters? Royal mail or courier?

Regarding documents

Post by PCB » Tue Nov 03, 2009 2:17 pm

Kumar,

I like to congratulate on your success first. I am applying for citizenship in Dec 2009 and planning to book an NCS appointment in the Birmingham City Council in December.

I aware i need to submit the following documents along with the application

1. Passport
2. Life in the uk letter
3. Driviging license.

Could you please mention what documents they collected from you.

Thanks,
PCB

sidster007 if you look at my timeline it may give you an idea of how long from approval to the secure mail package being delivered
They originally attempted to deliver on the 21st but i was not home and they left a reminder slip with the tracking number

Thanks Taliska...the HO told me that the letter was sent on Friday so I would expect it by tomorrow or Thursday. The good news is that my local council now has my certificate !! although they cannot promise a private ceremony in the next 2 weeks ! the next group one is 23rd Nov...

sidster007 well the most important thing is that you have your acceptance. My council only does one ceremony a month so I have to wait till the 19th of November, so although I got a quick reply I still had to wait a long time to get My ceremony. The only thing is I can sleep well at night without worrying about decision outcome now

That’s really strange, one more question.. can u go for private ceremony , I mean is it offered by all councils or not ? secondly, can we book private ceremony in any council or we have to go for local one, actually I live in London however my office is sending me to Scotland for 2-3 weeks so wondering if I can have my ceremony booked there.

Hi Tango Orange,

I'm afraid only your local council or if you requested a different one at the time of making your application can do the ceremony and present you with your certificate. If you to take it somewhere else as far as I know you have to ask the HO to transfer the certificate there. From my local council I understand that process takes time too (spoke to them about this today). Not sure about all other councils but most should do private ceremonies as its extra money for them (its a £90 charge for holding a private ceremony).

Good luck

sid i paid £115 for private ceremony so i think no standard charge, each council has own charges i been to post office today and lady said too short for me to apply and have passport before 25 nov so i decided to leave it till 10 december and will be applaying for passport plus iam going to my native country so i will not need british passport for now the good thing my origin country allow dual nationality.

some thing just came to my head can i still use my ilr to enter the uk one more time i mean when i back on 9 dec. :?:

TonyZ congratulations mate !! really really pleased for you...can't imagine what you must have been through over the last 4 months...bet you will sleep well tonight.
Racing fire- I hope Tonyz's case illustrates that you should continue to be positive. Hope you get good news soon.

Bechir- to my knowledge your ILR becomes invalid the day you become a British citizen. Border control guards may throw a fuss but I think they should allow you through if you explain the situation to them. I wouldn't take the risk but that's just me.

I still think there is enough time to get your passport if you apply in person at the passport office. Give it a go...you have nothing to lose..

Oh I didn't know that ...even then all you need for travel is your passport from country of origin and based on browsing through this and other forums I think you'll get back your passport by the 25th if you apply ASAP. They usually return documents within 7-10 working days if you use Post Office check and send.

Sid, he is right. I have checked with them as well for one of my friend and they confirm first applications has to be by post and allow them some time for processing. Things have changed a lot these days.
