Post by JACKY123 » Sun Nov 15, 2009 12:40 am

Hi there,

How much time is it currently taking to get the Naturalisation cert after sending fee, oath etc ?

I have sent 5 weeks back and still waiting.

Any suggestions ?

Totally ridiculous they have no excuse for this kind of delay.

Hello Jacky,

Did you receive your naturalisation cert?. Any update from people who are still waiting on the cert? We started with a 4 week waiting period, then 5 weeks, then 6 weeks and we're standing at 7 weeks pushing the delay further. Any update will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Malc

Thanks realgunner for your reply. I was actually asking about the time after approval when you submit your oath document, GNIB to receiver the naturalisation certificate. It seems we are pushing the 8 weeks delay in receiving this. Anyone received the cert in less time in the last few months?

Thanks again

Wow. That's really unacceptable. All I can suggest is to write a strongly worded letter of complaint and send it by registered post. Ringing them will be pointless.

The only conciliation I can provide is that once the cert does arrive, the rest is clear sailing. You'll have the passport in your hand in about a week to 10 days.

Good luck.

No worries Jacky, you're grand .. I'm fed-up with this government .. now they've EUR 950 in their hands and they've our GNIBs. We're here again waiting for their certificate ..

Now I understand the minister has to sign it himself and surely he has tons of other things to do and documents to sign .. but come on .. Is there a bloody official seal for the minister that someone in his office can use to make sure the certificate is issued within the 30 days that they claim..It seems immigrants are still not respected even after they took the oath of fidelity to this nation!

Anyway, nothing we can do but wait (yet again!)

i heard that the minister is very busy these days with the new budget and christmas approaching. He should be going on holidays as well I suppose as all the other TDs and ministers. So no wonder it takes such a long time. A friend of mine had her oath on 7th Oct, submitted all docs, and apparently her file hasn't been sent over to the minsyer yet for the final signature. it's unbelievable.

Nope. I've been waiting since 23 October 2009. This Friday it will be 12 weeks. Granted, we did have the Christmas break in-between.

folks,
just a quick question. How do you manage the situation if you have to go out of ireland while waiting for your naturalisation certificate. Reason for asking is that you have to send your original GNIB card for getting the naturalisation certificate and the GNIB card is checked upon arrival in Ireland by the immigration officer.

i guess you can show your approval letter to the IO at the airport and inform him that you are still awaiting your cert. there shouldn't be a problem.
