Child born in UK, living abroad, appying naturalisation

Post by JJ09 » Sun Nov 15, 2009 4:49 pm

Dear members,

My child was born in UK in 2004, currently living in China. I am on ILR and will apply my British citizenship next Feb. Can my child apply her British citizenship in China anytime in future when we want to?

I appreciate your help! Many thanks!

Anytime until age 18 (UK born child) although be aware that from age 10, child's "character" will be considered.

Also, they will want proof of child's parentage => may be harder later on.

Why would you wait? Child is probably eligible for citizenship now, as you have ILR.
