Applying for British citizenship - time spend away

Post by ali541 » Mon Nov 16, 2009 5:36 pm

Hi all. A freind of mine wants to apply for British Citizenship. The scenario is as follows.

Came to the UK in = 26/1/2002

Git her indefinate leave to remain = 21/3/2003

Time spent abroad = 22/9/2006 - 12/2/2008

Date Now = 16/11/2009

Can she apply for her British citizenship based on the time she has spent abroad. I contacted the nationality checking service who werent helpfull at all and guided to the Home Office websute, which wasnt helpful.

seeing as she has been way that long does she have to wait for a certain amount of time after arriving back on the 12/2/2008. its been 1 year and 9 months.

so all in all not including her time abroad does she have enought time spent in the UK for her to apply for her British Citizenship.

It would appear that due to her being outside of UK for more than 540 days she does not qualify.
