Do I have to register as a self-employed?

Post by leoseptember » Mon Nov 16, 2009 10:38 pm

Hi All,

As a sole director of my own company, do I have to register as a self-employed?
If I'd rather not to, what should I do to get around of it?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Kind regards,
Leo

I saw many people here have their own ltd company and registered as self-employed.
Is this something for me to decide or for HMRC to decide?
Another thing confused me is that how could a company pay corporate tax and at the same time the self-employed sole director pays income tax for the company's earning as well??
Anyone?

ONLY IN situation they have sole tradeing business as well as ltd comp.

if only ltd comp than no need to pay £2.1/ week

HI

The company that you form pays corporation tax . while if you receive income from the company and been a director you have to complete a Self Assessment Tax Return .

You do not have to register as Self Employed . The similarity between been Self Employed and a Director of a Company who recieve income from Company is the completion of Self Assessment Tax Return .

You do not have a choice its legal requirement .

sorry for the earlier incomplete message
