Date of first entry & Place

Post by kiamsiapl » Thu Nov 26, 2009 8:19 am

Hi,

I have a question for those who have had successful applications via NCS. WHat should I put as my First Date of Entry + Place?

Strictly speaking my first date of entry was 10 years ago but I got my ILR based on 4 years Work Permit, and now am applying for Naturalisation on this (4-yr WP) basis + 1 year ILR.

Should my first date of entry be my Work Permit stamp date then? (Stamped by UK Home Office in 2003)...if I do that, I won't have an answer for "Place/ Port" of entry...as I never left the UK nor reentered to get that stamp. My employer essentially sent my passport off to be stamped, on my behalf.

I wish the Home Office would be clearer in the official guidance leaflet!

Would be glad for any advice ASAP. My NCS appointment is TOMORROW!!

Many thanks!

Kiamsiapl, I was in the same position, having been on a student visa for a number of years before I got my first WP. Date of entry should be the date you first entered the UK and your port of entry should also be stated.

Your first date of entry is the date you first entered the UK. i.e. the date some 10 years ago when you first arrived at Heathrow, Gatwick or whichever airport applies. Note that it also asks for your first port of entry which will be the airport, seaport you entered from i.e. Heathrow airport, Gatwick etc. Hope this helps. Good luck with your submission.

is this true even if the first entry was on a 6 months tourist visa?

Refer to Section 2.1 Page 16 of the Guidance notes for Form AN. Only when you first arrived 'on along-term basis'. In other words your visiting entries do not count but the first date when you achieved say 'Work Permit', HSMP or ILR.
If still unclear then list out your history i.e. dates of Visiting entry, Work Permit etc.
What the form refers to is the date of first entry with a view to 'long-term' basis.

Thanks Incognito. Once I obtained the delivery ref number from the IPS I called up DX secure and got the delivery address changed to office. They had my work address on the system anyways since my supporting documentation for the passport application had also been redirected there.

Cheers

Congratulations Sid. Very happy for you.

One milestone done. Now for the other milestone - getting OCI.

Thanks

Thanks Mallik. The OCI is the next hurdle but one that I am saving for the new year as I am scheduled to travel to India on the 18th of December for holidays and so don't have enough time to get the OCI done. For now I will get a 6 month tourist visa and get cracking on the OCI on my return to the UK.

Thanks again

Sid

Thanks Tango Orange. Have a look at my previous postings on page 114 or 115 where I have given a full list of questions that I was asked. Similarlt Bechir and Don Petuchi have done the same.

Don't worry about the interview, its a breeze and you will be ok. They usually just verify information that you gave them while filling the passport application form. Good luck !

Quicker than I thought

Post by freestuffinnit » Fri Nov 27, 2009 9:47 pm

This was faster than even I thought, and I was optimistic...

Type of Application: AN Joint + MN1
NCS or Postal: NCS
NCS Centre: Brent
Submission Date: 01/11/2009
Date of Arrival: 02/11/2009
Criteria: 6yrs WP + 1.5 yr ILR
Date of Debit Card payment: 09/11/2009
Acknowledgement: 13/11/2009 (dated 09/11/2009)
Receipt of Approval: 27/11/2009 (dated 16/11/2009)
Date of Ceremony: TBA
Date of Passport Application: TBA
Date of Passport Interview: TBA
Date of Receipt of Passport: TBA

Dilemma is that I travel in 3.5 weeks time, should I try and get Passports sorted before then or just leave the ceremony till I get back in January.

If I attend the ceremony, I believe my ILR becomes Null and Void and I would need to get Right of Abode in my current passport.

Hi Guys,

My Uncle's and my journey have started today. We both applied BC through NCS Wandsworth. Mine application was OK. But they have raised a requirement to my uncle to submit his ex-wife's EU ID card or Passport. However he argued that this is not the requirement by law. And lady said she will double check with HO on Monday before sending application to them.

Now my queries are :

1) As my uncle is in middle of his divorce with his EU wife, there is no way his wife is going to provide her ID to him for what soever reason. What would be his options?

2) He have applied BC under 5 year Treaty right Directive 2004/36. As he completed his 6 years on 1st November 2009. (6th Marriage Anniversary). Will he be asked to reapply on his own right again? OR this application will be fine?

Many thanks.

Update

NCS or Postal : NCS
Date of submission or posting : 03/11/09
Date received @HO: 04/11/09
CRITERIA - 5 Year stay Including 1 year ILR
Date of debit of debit/credit card : Used Transcash paid on 30/10/09
Date of receipt of acknowledgement : 13/11/09 (letter dated the 10/11/09)
Date of receipt of approval :27/11/09..but i received a letter from the council informing that my application has been approved
Date of citizenship Ceremony : Pending
Date of passport application : Pending
Method used : Pending
Date for passport Interview: Pending
Date of Receipt of Passport: Pending

Few question.....basically the council sent me a letter informing that my application has been approved and that they have got my certificate of naturalisation ....they even gave me the date of my ceremony which is in january....

my Questions:

-can i contact the council to book an earlier date even if i have not received a letter from the HO
or
should i wait the letter from HO to come so that i can book then a date for my ceremony

I should point out that with the letter from the council, there was also an application from for the ceremony where they ask "POLL NUMBER" which i do not know.....

If someone can give me some idea or has experienced this, i will appreciate if they answer me

Thank you.

Congratulations on your approval. To be honest it might be better for you to delay your ceremony till your return as 3.5weeks is tight in my opinion.

Mularda, you could have a go at asking for an earlier date from your council but it will appear they have given you the earliest date. You could ask for a 'private ceremony' though there is a separate fee for this. Good luck.

Thanks, yes I think it's better to just wait till we get back... 1 month won't make much difference since this is the culmination of being in the uk for 9 years...
