If you documents are straight forward and you can present well, i would advice to apply by post. It will anyway take same time (from your perspective). You will have to book appointment 3-4 weeks before(if you could). In the same time, people are getting approval already.

I agree with Chetan.

I tried for three weeks to get an appointment but no luck. I am going to apply by post this week. My visa expires in Jan 2010.

For straight forward cases, I guess it is easier to send by post. As a bonus, it saves us £200 too.

Good luck to everyone

Yeah there are some cases. But if caseworker cannot verify your documents on the same day he will put your case in end of the queue of postal application. Risk is always there.

agreed,
Applying by post, one not only save 200 pounds.
Plus one day pay, and travel expenses to go to the centre

Plus waiting there for the whole day,
Instead
Apply through post, and cool down if you satisfied with ur paper work u submitted.

The HO recommendation is that you need to apply at least 28 days before your current leave to remain expires. This guideline exists only to allow the applicant a chance to re apply before leave expires if the original one is turned down.

There is no rule to say have to apply only within the last 28 days. I did call HO on two different occassions and got it verified.

I have also read many cases in this forum where people have applied beofre 3 to 6 months and have got the approval.

If anybody can get in person appointment, I advise to do so. because you do not have the stress while your application is being poccessed and you are not afraid of your docs being lost.
Mine was straight and is now 5 weeks and no news yet even no ref no!!!

Hello shawinam,

I did include details of my two dependents during online booking for appointment. I was issued a unique reference number for my booking confirmation. I would suggest to ring HO asap to let them know of your situation and seek their advice.

There is a risk that home office may not be willing to include your dependent's applications (as they were not included during online booking) when you visit them for your appointment.

There's also a possiblility that customer service agent (over phone) might be able to amend your current booking to include your dependents details.

Wish you best of luck.

Cheers,
