Time, Cost and Financial reponsibilities RE: a Spousal visa

Post by nan0man » Fri Dec 11, 2009 9:05 am

My American wife and I were married a few months ago in the US.

I have moved back to the UK to start setting up a home etc for us.

She will be following me sometime in June 2010.

Questions:

1, How long will it take for her to be given her spousal visa and work authorization once she applies?

2, How much should this cost? (i've seen different amounts while researching online)

3, As the UK citizen, am i required to provide any kind of proof of income or financial responsibilitie when she apply's?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

(BTW: I did do some research online and at this forum but since i'm seeing some conflicting information, i thought i would get you guys's opinion.)

Thanks again.

1. they say they aim to process 95% of applications in 12 weeks, you can check how long your local application center is taking here;
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/processingtimes

my fiance's took about 1 month

2. Settlement: Spouse £585
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/visafees/

3. you need to show both finances in the form of 6 months bank statements and payslips (all originals), you also need to provide proof that accommodation is present and suitable, rental agreement, utility bills and a housing inspection for entry clearence from the local council

And you must both be over the age of 21. Have you read through form VAF4a on the UKBA website...
