Applicants- Husband & wife (Indians)
Application- Postal
Criteria- HSMP (4yrs) + ILR (1yr) (ILR was backdated based on the judicial review)
Date of submission- 30th Nov.09
Date of receipt at Home Office-1/12/09
Metord of payment- Cheque
Cheque debited from account- 11/12/09
Acknowledgement letter dated 07/12/09
Documents back by post on 16/12/09
Letter inviting for ceremony (dt 12/12/09) received on 18/12/09
Citizenship ceremony booked for 13/1/10

After many people in the forum letting people know that the application turn around is quick, many people are still preferring to go to NCS. I am made aware that after applying for citizenship, we are not allowed to leave the country for a week. The turn around time is less than 3 weeks (provided the criteria for qualification is straight forward). Of all the visa applications I have done, citizenship one is the easiest and most straight forward. Send application by postal and buy a Christmas gift with the money saved.

I have called home office they said the decision has not been made, has anybody else been through such situation?

Hiiiii,

Sorry buddy could not get in touch earlier. Not feeling well and weather and the delay in decision of my application is making me more unwell.

Hope you are fine.

Now as i told you long ago.. I consider my case a special one like you. See... you said my case is straight forward but seems like its not sooo. They are taking a lot of time and ???

Considering this blog and the time frame we are getting from other members i think I have waited long enough and its time to stop watching the door for the courier.. and take it as and when whatever comes.

After tomorrow there will be holidays till the 4th of next month.I have this feeling dat i will not be hearing anything even until march 2010. :(

What about you? Did you receive acknowledgement? I waited for this update by you till now. So what Happened? At least give us Good News of your acknowledgement??

Apart from this nothing new. Prayers are always for you and for the best.

Remember us in your prayers.

With Regards,

Eagleeye09.

Hi mularda- congrats
Couple of questions regarding passport applications
1. For check and send, did the post office have the application or did you fill one on line and submitted it to the post office?
2. Were you given a choice for interview dates?

hi chakku

thank you
Regarding the application, i went to the post office,
they had passport application which i completed....after i went back again and used the check and send service whereby they check that all was well completed and then i paid and they gave me a receipt with a reference number i would be using if i want to the progress of my application.

Regarding the interview date, they asked where i would like to have the interview. for that they gave me a list of town and i chose my town which was on the list...and then gave me a list of dates available and i chose the earliest date which was 19/12

i hope i have answered all your questions.

Alpacino
Hey Alpacino, would say you are one great, desperate BC seeker. I have just a few wonders (no pun or sarcasm intended), if you could possibly answer would be much appreciated;

1. Wonder what could be the driving factor for the above?
2. Also, I'm astonished that what took you to say so quickly "I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, her Heirs and Successors".. I am refering to the oath you took at the ceremony. This question is b'cos the only way I could see... where your desperation is coming from ...... indeed 14 yrs of stay + ILR ... is too long a wait .... for the mere.... 30 seconds to say... "I will be faithful and bear true allegiance...."
3. You need not answer this one, may I ask from which country are you from?... prior to BC..of course.

Many thanks.

Gotiya

Still waiting. Are we the only ones waiting for this long?
Update:

Reply received by solicitor in December. Application refused on grounds of a conviction in February 2009 (a misunderstanding in our words standing against the police - we stood no chance and had to give up). They also say we did not mention it, which is not true (but the solicitor sent it to the wrong department!)
They say it's five years rehabilitation from the date of the sentence, but me and my husband's solicitor looked it up before, and we found it to be one year for a sentence to community service?

Urgent Query

Post by eagleeye09 » Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:17 pm

Hi, Everybody, including JOHN, Batley Khan, Chess,

I am asked by a very dear friend of mine to get this point cleared.

The case study is as,

Husband:

Got ILR in 2007.
Naturalised in Nov. 2009.

Wife: Joined the husband as a student dependent prior to his ILR.

Given Spouse Visa in dec.2007
Given ILR in 2009.

She has completed a legal stay of 3 yrs and 3 months in UK.

Q. As the husband is naturalised and has become British National now and his wife has been given ILR, can she apply for naturalisation now as being the spouse of a british National and a legal stayer for more than 3 yrs or does she need to complete 12 months on ILR before she becomes eligible to be naturalised??????

Plz reply in detail and in simple terms so that i could advise him on it.

Regards,

Eagleeye09.

Thanx for the reply. But according to my understanding your view is not the right one.

Also with no disrespect, you have not mentioned any rules, other source or at least given any logic for your answer.

Thats y i have asked JOHN, BatleyKhan or chess to comment on this.

Hi eagleeye,

I have recieved my acknowledgement today. In regards to your friend's case please have a look at the link below. I have read somewhere on the forum, but can't remember where and I believe she can apply for naturalisation now. You can ask vinny for the link as he knows much better.

I am so pleased for you. At least 2nd step is out of the way. Now step 3 (approval/good news) is anxiously awaited.

Not to worry i will give ur case till the 20th of January at the most and then it will be all done and done well. I have written 20th coz there will be holidays for the first 4 days of the year.

Sorry got bit busy with family as both of my children were unwell and myself went down with fever. Sent you a PM and am still waiting for the reply.

As far as the friend's case is concerned, having got no reply apart from yours which was today i have asked him to seek immigration advice on the issue but my personal opinion stands at that his wife can apply for naturalisation without waiting 12 months.

rest is fine and status quo maintained by the HO in my case. Lets hope something stirs up in january.
