Renewal of Tier 2 Visa

Post by mooreao » Wed Nov 18, 2009 10:37 pm

Please help!

I have been working in the UK on a work permit for the last two years. My current work permit expires at the end of January 2010. My employer sent me a list of documents to have ready when the time came to reapply for the visa. It is now within the time frame to begin to reapply and I have been looking at the application form. After looking at the points system I have came through with plenty of points except the Maintenence Funds points. All the information I have found is saying that I need to have £800 or £800 for 3 months before coming to the UK.

Does this still apply to me, because I am renewing a visa, even though I have been working in the UK the last 2 years?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, if you are a current work permit holder you do not need to meet this requirement to transfer into Tier 2. There are transitional arranegements. This will become apparent when you tackle the 50-odd page application form.

Be aware your employer needs to be a licensed sponsor under Tier 2. If they do not have a sponsor licence then they need to apply NOW. Sponsor licences take weeks to obtain and then they need to issue you a certificate of sponsorship (can be done same day, but they can't do it until they have the licence).

Thanks for your help.

Is the transitional arrangement application on the UKBA website?

yes, transitional arrangements are listed on there. Just type transitional arrangement Tier 2 into the search engine

Work permit preprations

Post by Alishah » Sun Dec 20, 2009 10:44 am

Hello There.
This is very good thread, I have some questions for my WP although I have time but update will give me my status.

Got WP visa on my passport 18th June 2008.
Came to UK on 22nd July 2008.
Visa will expire on 18th June 2013.

Please tell me;
When I have to apply for expension.
Can I apply for ILR or I have to apply for Extension first.
Do I need to ask my employer for any other documents now.

Your valuable advise will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

There is news that ILR rules may change soon and we will know abt those changes very soon (July 2011??).. so i would wait for those change of rules to come out clearly to plan for next step.

Hi.
The reason I asked was, there are confusions and no one know what type of new rules are there to come? This is the reason I was of the view to ask and prepared for the changes.
Wishing you all the best
