For parents you need to fill VAF1B as they will be applying as a Family visitor. The docs which I submitted were:-

Invite Letter
Tenancy Agreement
Bank Staments (last 6 months)
Pay Slips (last 6 months)

Hi Hope 2007. when my parents visited UK we have submitted following docs:
From My side (all photocopy)-
last 6 months pay slips and bank statements
2 Utility bills
tenancy agreement
1 letter to BHC requesting for visa with any valid reason
1 invitation letter to parents requesting them to come to visit us with same reason.
Passport and Visa copy.

From my parents side (all originals)-
proof of funds (inc. house valuation and pension docs)- passbook, LIC, NSC, MIS etc.
passports and photographs

I have also sent them a cover letter and financial summary and details from both side.

Hi Hope2007,

I submitted the same docs as Amit above from my parents side - Latest bank statements of their accounts, property papers, any other financial doc showing funds.

The amount of time it takes depends on whether they are applying for the first time or if they have already had a UK visa(expired). If its their first time, it will take around 14 working days and if they have applied before it won't take more than 5 working days.

Also, rather than paying cash there, pay the fees at one of the Standard Chartered banks listed on the VFS site (http://www.vfs-uk-in.com/wheretopay.aspx) and they will issue you a demand draft free of cost which will be valid for 6 months. If you pay by cash, you will have to pay something around Rs.200 extra per application.

Dear Friends,
Is it sufficient to show photocopies of our (sponserors) documents ? I am trying to apply family visa using an agent for my in laws and agent was asking for originals ? please clarify.

thanks and regards

You need to submit all original documents as per page 6 of the guidance form for Visitors

Can anyone suggest if we need two copies of all the proofs - one for father and one for mother when both are applying for visa at the same time?

If its a combined application, you need to provide only one set of docs.

So, if I understand this correctly, we have to submit two application forms, fees for 2 applications, but just one set of all proofs (originals preferably) and put them all in one folder while submitting it at VFS.

It would be great if someone could confirm this.
