Tier 1 dependent maintenance funds

Post by agam_21 » Sun Jan 03, 2010 10:18 pm

Hi All,
Just need some clarification regarding maintenence funds for dependent visa.
I am on Tier 1 General visa and has been in UK for 3 years, recently got married and want my spouse to join me as my dependent. She will be applying for her dependent visa from India.

How much funds do i need to show for 3 months

1-£800+£533=£1333 as i have lived here for more than 12 months

2-£800+£1600=£2400 as i live in UK and she lives outside

3-£2800+£1600=£4400 as maintenance funds requires from outside UK

As £800 and £533 are the maintenence funds required when applying from inside the UK as mentioned on UKBA website.

friends need ur help its seems very confusing
Thanks

Post by bhavya » Mon Jan 04, 2010 10:29 am

hi there
its not beet confusion dear..
As your wife never been to uk u have to show 1600 for her.
And you already get the tier1 visa so i think you dont have to show anything for you.
Your wife application is fresh new application so she/you have to show only for her maintnance fund.
This is up to my knowledge.
seniors please advice....

hmmm but i thought it would jsut be £1333

i read this in the guidance

"If the Tier 1 migrant has been in the 40. United Kingdom for 12 months or more, each family member of the Tier 1 migrant must have £533 to support himself/herself."

The criteria is based on main applicant's residential status in the UK. Now go through the points 39 through 43 from the points based guidance for dependants.

Well, in this case the guidance says that you need £2800 for the main applicant + £1600 for each dependant.(as this is an application outside the UK)

Look at the section How are points calculated Maintenance Fund specifically?
