Thats not true.

Spouse of a BC does not need to satisfy the 12month ILR requirement. They can apply the day they get ILR so long as all the other requirements are met

Citizenship Application

Post by Spartac » Sat Jan 09, 2010 10:38 am

Hi. We are due to apply for our citizenship via an NCS next week. Our application is for 2 adults and 1 child based on the HSMP JR. I had a few questions:

Will the child's application be processed seperately than ours in this case. I have seen the timelines of MN1 applications, and they appear to be much quicker than adult application.

Also, will the UKBA send the certificate of naturalisation if they approve the child's application.

Last question, can I select any other local authority in order to get a quick private ceremony, in case my local authority does not have immediate dates available.

Many thanks

With your numbering :

1) All applications are dealt on individual basis. So, time lines may vary in family applicaitons.
2) Yes, you might recieve your child's naturalisation certificate well before then yours.
3) It is hard but not imposible. As HO also sends your applications status to local authority and if you want to change it then your local authority have to send that communication to theone you go for. Which might take a bit of time.

Hope it helps.

Hello - pls find below details of my application. Whilst booking my ceremony, I was advsied by the council that they have already received my naturalisation letter from the Home Office. Can someone please confirm :

1) The date on the naturalisation cert will be the same as the date of the ceremony, or is it the date of the approval ?
2) The ILR is cancelled by the HO only after the ceremony.

Reason is that I need to travel within the next one month on my existing passport + ILR, and then go through this process.

NCS or Postal : NCS
Date of submission or posting : 07/12/09
Date received @HO : 08/12/09
CRITERIA : 5 Year stay + 1.5 yr ILR
Date of debit of debit/credit card : Credit Card - 11/12/09
Date of receipt of acknowledgement : 17/12/09 (letter dated 14/12/09)
Date of receipt of approval : 09/01/10 (letter dated 31/12/09)
Date of citizenship Ceremony : 17/02/10

Many thanks -

I think the other parts of your query have already been answered.

With regards to Citizenship Ceremony the form asks you to choose a local authority if you want one which isnt the same as you live in. So it will be worthwhile to do your research before you actually send the forms. If you want to change after approval this, as pointed out already, might actually end up delaying things.

1/ The date will be that of the ceremony

2/ I think 'technically' it becomes invalid but i have i heard pple have been able to use it regardless

NCS Application

Post by Spartac » Tue Jan 12, 2010 8:04 am

Thanks keshgrover, f2k

I am applying outside my council (Luton), as I wasn't getting a early enough date from them. I am applying in Hatfield and I'll probably put their name down on my form as they have said they can arrange a private ceremony pretty quickly.

Waited way too long so now with the end in sight I just want to get this over with ASAP.

Regards - Spartac
