Is it necessary to have email confirmation from UKBA regarding appointment confirmation.
I booked my appointment ONLINE for ILR and the booking system says
that
Step 4 - Appointment confirmation
Thank you. We have successfully received your booking.
The details of your appointment are below:

Date: 15 Feb 2010
Location: Lunar House, 40 Wellesley Road, Croydon CR9 2BY
Time: xx:xx AM
Details of main applicant:

On the day of your appointment you must:
Arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to clear security.

Ensure that only the individuals registered and booked into this appointment come along - noone else will be seen.
Print this page and bring it with you to your appointment.

the information you have given is the confimation of appt.
you would also receive a text msg. on you mobile (assuming you have given one during registratio) with the same details. you can show this at the peo entrance - once inside you might have to give the details at a counter where you'll be given a token.

Hi - Can I ask a related question please ?.
I've also booked an online appointment for ILR appln for me and spouse. I've added him as family member in the details screen.
Is one appointment enough or do i need to book 2 appointments ?.

If you are on your own i.e. individual applicant then this should be enough, only for family/dependent application you better confirm.

I was recently (last week) advised by Home Office to cancel my online appointment as I had not included the dependants, yet I wanted them to be part of my ILR application. You have to include the dependant as additional family members while you are booking online.
