Hi all,
Thank you guys for all your help and support.
My name on the passport is XXX YYY ZZZ. (issued in 2006)
However, on all my educational qualification documents, my name is XXX YYYKUMAR ZZZ.
I believe this would be a common problem with people applying from India.
Could anyone let me know what would the best course of action?
I have considered filing an affidavit in court which says that XXX YYY ZZZ and XXX YYYKUMAR ZZZ is the same person.
I also spoke to a consultant and he was of the opinion that since my name does not change (its my dad's name that has a KUMAR attached), it should not be a cause of concern.
I am confused. Appreciate your thoughts and opinion and if anyone has faced such a problem.
Many Thanks.

I would suggest to get the affidavit done. You dont want to take risk...

Affidavit is fine. I have similar situation where spelling of my surname is different in academic certificates from passport. I got affidavit from Indian Embassy London and it was accepted.

Hi,
I had the similar issue.
My name on the passport is XXX YYY ZZZ.
However, on my degree certificate my name is XXXYYY ZZZ.
All the names and spellings are matched but there is no space between first name(XXX) and middle name(YYY) in the degree certificate. Please note on degree certificate it's "XXXYYY" not "XXX YYY".
Do i need to submit affidavit or just a name variation letter on the letterhead of advocate/notary duly signed and stamped by the notary person?
Also, do i have to get a letter from the university to confirm that the degree in question belongs to me.
I would be grateful if you could post your suggestions/thoughts.
