THere are a couple of people waiting for more than 3 (3!) MONTHS !
My wife is waiting for 2 months and 7 days . i know a girl waiting for 3 months and 8 days.

RAGE IS GROWING and i am determined to go to their office and rage at them, roar at them, whatever, if a group of people like us gathers and goes. i dont care. i am irish, i got my cert.

Does anybody know when we apply for Irish Passport we need to submit original certs (birth, Citizenship and Marriage), Do they return when they issue passport ?

Thanks

for the irish passport they only need original birth cert. no need for marriage certs, etc I think. the original documents are returned with the irish passport

Here's an update from INIS re issuing of CoN.

As a result of a number of special sittings of the Dublin District Court in November 2009 the Division has received an high volume of requests from approved applicants to issue certificates of Naturalisation.
This has meant that it is currently taking 3 months for a certificate to issue. Additional resources have been allocated to the certifications area to reduce this time. It is expected that certificates will issue within 4-6 weeks from February onwards. In the meantime your patience would be greatly appreciated. "

Congrats to all those who got their certs recently..I'm in my 11th week now..still waiting..Is there anyone who applied in mid-November and got his cert recently?..

On another front, and perhaps same as Jacky's question. Do you need your original birth cert to be submitted to get the passport or Does it suffice to submit a copy of the birth cert and the affidavit we sent earlier to the INIS..

Hopefully we'll all have one big party on that day we become really really Irish .. hopefully soon

Hello Everyone, Did anyone receive his or her naturalisation cert last or this week?. I'm afraid the INIS claim of 3 months waiting time will be breached as usual but the fact they acknowledged the delay may be a positive thing this time!

On another note, I'd appreciate it if someone can tell me if original birth certificates are needed for passport applications or if copies suffice.

Thanks and Regards,
Malcolm

Both Naturalisation Certificate and Long Form Birth Certificate ( Birth Affidavit sent to INIS) must be submitted for applying passport. Photocopies are not accepted.
