Outside UK (EC/visa)
Settlement Visa (Dependent Relative) - 187% increase (1680 from 585)

In UK (Leave to remain)
ILR Dependent Relative (Postal) - 105% increase (1680 from 820)
ILR Dependent Relative (PEO) - 90% increase (1930 from 1020)

Wow!!

The estimated Unit cost shows that how exorbitant that existing fee is!

I could not see any proposal on dependant Visa fee for in-country applicants.

The revenue generated will contribute towards the development and delivery of the new Points Based System, the rollout of ID cards for foreign nationals and investment in IT capability both overseas and in the UK. This coming year we will continue to strengthen that capability in underpinning technology and process improvement
It would be good if a part of the profit out of this is used for putting in place an On-line application system, for all In-Country applicants. This would reduce the huge volume of papers that is being generated now !

I think it has nothing to do with unit cost. They are generating revenue to help immigration related local government problems.

Finally we will continue to generate revenue to fund the transitional impacts of migration. The Migration Impacts Fund has played a vital role in helping ease the pressures on certain communities.

I'm not defending fees anyway. Just explaining you about your point.
