Post by coldautumn » Sun Jan 24, 2010 11:05 am

Hi,

Kindly need some information regarding maintance funds for Tier 4 General Application. Should it be three months bank statement and 3000 Gbp are valid enough for maintance points for Tier 4.

Hi Anum,
First of all, where are you applying for Tier 4? means which city and country?
Is it new application or extension of your ongoing studies?

All these factors make differences.

If it is a fresh application and outside the UK, then you have to show:

1- Money paid to university, and if not paid fully, then the remaining balance.
Lets say out of 10000 of university tuition fees, you paid 5000, and your remaining balance is 5000 GBP.

2- So the amount from point 1, should be added to minimum of 9 months expenditures, and it depends on the university. If your university comes in central London, then you need 800 GBP for one month into 9 months.
But if your university is outside of (central)London, than you need to show 600 pounds per month into 9 months.
Using the example shown in point 1, and assuming that your university is in central London, you must show:
5000 (remaining tuition fees) +
800X9 = 7200
Total: 7200 + 5000 = 122000

Exception would be if you are being granted a scholarship which covers university fees and living cost for the tenure of your course.

I am afraid that 3000 pounds are not enough if your application is fresh and outside the UK.

However answering the second part of your question, you should have this money in your account for 28 days, (so you need bank statement of last 28 days) and the bank statement should not be older than 30 days from that date of application.

I hope this helps.

Best of luck.

OK Anum,
Remember then you need more funds, and you are applying from outside the UK, and I assume it would be your first application.

Wish you best of luck, and if you need any help, give us a shout.

Cheers.
