Submission of relavant documents after application

My Visa expires on the 31st of Jan and my university is willing to give the letters for my visa on the 1st of Feb as their board meets on 29th of Jan which falls on a friday. Can i send in my application with a covering letter to the case worker stating that I am sending in the letter later.
I have a letter from the university stating that they will be able to provide the visa letter only after the 31st of Jan. Can i add this letter to my covering letter as evidence

1. I do not understand u situation as u wud have ben given 4 months extra plus the time of your course work so r u saying that u did not get the 4 months.
2. HO gives every student 4 months extra for graduation ceremonies or receive results.
3. To apply for PSW u have to have passed the degree and it is ok to apply without the certificate assuming that u have passed and the Board of Examiners have notified you that u passed all the modules.
4. So in u case r u saying that u have not been notified yet and if thats the case then u shud not apply as u visa will be rejected as u have not achieved the qualification yet.
5. PSW guidence clearly explains that so u shud know about it.

Hi Thanks for your reply,
It is true that all the students from the other depts got 4 months. But my dept's exam board met very later (dec 17 to be precise) and the only letter that i got was one which says that 'I have been recommended by the board of exams for the award but the university senate is due to confirm it only by the 29th of Jan' . the letter also states that this is a confirmation from the board of examiner's recommendation for the award.
The letter also has the study dates on it.

I was wondering if i could use this letter as a proof that the certificate is not yet received and that i have passed.
and send in teh actual requirements in less than a weeks time.

If result late for PSW

Post by Kalugampitiya » Wed Jan 27, 2010 8:50 pm

If result late for PSW
1. Most secure way is to go back your home country and apply.
2. Or Apply with current documents that you have now and then simply post the exact and final result by stating case reference number, date apply, name, date of birth, passport number along with cover letter of explain.
3. Second option is bit risk as you could lose your £500. But if you reject you can appeal + do new application. By the time you will have all the documents.
4. Appeals are free of charge
5. On the day of the appeal you could say in court that you have got your degree and show the university letter giving the date of award of the degree.
6. This method would help your PSW without having to go back to the country of origin.

Please correct me if I am wrong

1. I wud not recommend as the OP wud not be given a right of appeal as he does not have a qualification so it will be an invalid application.
2. For PSW u have to have the results from the board of examiners so if you do not have the results and apply then u do not qualify for a appeal in the first place.

1. The Degree Certificate is not a problem as u can apply for PSW without certificate with extra information on the letter.
2. Your situation is that u have not passed yet as u have been recommended for the degree but not confirmed as senate has not confirmed u results.
3. U need to wait for the senate to approve u results and once they done it u can apply without having a certificate.
4. Why not think about extending u student visa for couple of months and also see you uni adviser they can issue a letter to confirm your situation.

Hi guys,
thanks for your replies. today i happened to call the UKCISA (UK council for international student affairs) According to their advice, the applicant needs to prove that he has successfully completed his/her course, hence asked me to keep the letter where the exam board has recommended me for the degree and my transcripts as proof of my course completion.

You have not received your Degree result once BoE has not confirmed it.
If you student's visa is expiring, you need to submit an application under "Resit exam" and then send in documents you have to show that you have not receive your final result and might even be subject to redo your work.
then if they write you, before then you have received the letter/final award from school.

I have seen in forum Ukresident.com where someone, played a trick because his visa is expiring in like 10days, and his maintenace fund is completing 3 months in 20days, he said he entered his card details wrongly, and when HO try to take money, it failed and they return the application and ask him to send in with correct payment. before this period his maintenance fund has clocked 3 months, and he now sent it and was given Visa, cases are different though
to read about this check PSW section of ukresident.com
