Certainly you can. Just tick the "Visa" box on the Application Form

yes, you can pay by visa debit card, but first speak with the bank if they will authorise the payment because some banks put a limit on the transaction.

I read last week i think in this forum when some one gave his vida debit card details but bank did not authorised the payment and his application was returned.

I would suggest best way to pay is by credit card but make sure you have limit

So the main thing is that the bank would not block it?
Because the guidance says about VISA only credit card.

exactly. some banks block payments if suddenly a large amount is deducted. worthwhile to inform your bank in advance to avoid any unnecessary delay. I paid with visa debit and got my visa today. so it does work...

Mostly happening with ICICI bank. It seems they have a limit of £750 worth of transactions per day.

We cannot begin the consideration process
until the payment has cleared. We allow 5
working days for payments made by cheque to
clear, credit/debit cards and postal orders will
clear immediately.

Credit cards and postal orders are both cleared immediately as stated above. There is a chance of not approving the transaction by the 'fraud prevention team' of the bank if you use a credit card. But, if one uses postal orders, it is as good as cash. I have read a few members posting in this forum that, when they paid fee (in-person applications), the payment clerk had to call the bank to verify details when they used a credit/debit card. Having said that, by no means I imply that paying by credit/debit card is risky and I have also paid using a credit card.
