Dependent Tier -1 Visa maintenance

Post by ranjithmohan » Sat Feb 06, 2010 4:22 pm

Hi,

I have got a tier -1 visa and I have got a job in UK, I will be travelling to UK by march 1st week and will join work by march second week. I want to apply Tier - 1 dependent visa for my wife. I have got 2400 pounds in my UK account.

Question 1 : Can I apply tier-1 dependent visa with the above amount before travelling to UK i.e. before march.

Question 2: If I can't apply now with the above mentioned money, can she apply once i have reached UK . Is it mandatory to get the first salary i.e I will get the salary slip probably by may 1st week. so that the maintenace would be 800£(for me) and 1600£(for my wife). I'm planning to get a 2 bhk so will the rent agreement help me.

Kindly revert to the above query....

Thanks in advance

Yes you can apply before you go to UK; you don not need to be in job to apply for dependents visa

I have read the guidance policy my understanding is that if I'm applying in india and my wife is applying then the maintenance is (2800£+1600£) = 4400£.

If i'm in uk, even if I'm there for one month the maintenance required is 800£+1600£ = 2400£

Please confirm

From the PBS Tier 1 INF 21
Can my dependants join me in the UK?

Your husband, wife, civil partner or eligible partner and children under 18 can join you as your dependants in the UK if:

they have a visa for this purpose and you can support them without any help from public funds. You need £1,600 for each dependant joining you within 12 months of your arrival in the UK and £533 thereafter.

Does the main applicant has to be in the UK on Tier 1 (General) for more than 12 months or can he/she be on any other visa ?
