From Tier 1 to ILR to Citizenship - How does it work?

Post by Leo2010 » Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:46 pm

After I enter the UK on Tier 1, I understand I will be able to get ILR after 5 years. After that, how long does it take to get British citizenship? What's the process like? Thanks!

As on date, as per current laws:
1. Enter UK on Tier 1 (Genreal) / Tier 2 (General).
2. Settlement after 5 years (from 1.)
3. Citizenship after 1 year (from 2.)

You haven't yet applied for Tier 1, and already worrying about the process to apply for British Citizenship! Ain't a bit too early for that?

It is all "active" as on date. But how and to what extent will the new citizenship law affect new entrants is unknown (as yet). As on date, this is the only news published by UKBA: Transitional arrangements for earned citizenship.
