I was initially here on HSMP which is gonna expire on march 04, 2010.

I have sent my application yesterday for extension under Tier 1. Soon after that I came to know that according to the new photo guidance, the photographs must be on a grey or cream background, however the photos I sent have white background.

Would you think this will create issues? If so will I be able to send new photos again while application is under process and whats the best way of doing this in that case.

Thanks for your time and help
If you think that your photographs are not as per guidance. Then follow tvn_ramesh's advice. Which is in the same thread. Copying it again for your convenience.
What you can do is get 2sets of photographs ready..

1. just send 1set of the photos with a cover letter puting all ur details like Passport no. name, date you sent ur application etc.. and if they can track it back to ur application that is well and good..

2. Wait for the Reference letter to arrive and once you have the ref letter.. use that reference no. in ur cover letter again with the ur details and send the 2nd set of photos..

in case 1st photos can not be linked to ur application.. 2nd set will be sure to be linked.. unless they are too strict...
The above suggestion makes sense to me.

I read on this forum that you need to send your passport along with ur Dependents visa..

regarding documents.. they will be:

1. Application form
2. Cover letter
3. Passport of the dependent
4. photographs x 2
5. Birth certificate of the baby
6. Maintenance funds proof bankstatements
7. Passport of the main applicant with Current Visa
8. 3-6months salary slips is good to attach - BUT NOT MANDATORY..

From HSMP to Tier 1 Extension

Post by shani786 » Tue Feb 16, 2010 10:19 pm

Hello, i was on HSMP (2-years) which expired on 15.02.2010 and I have applied for the extension under Tier 1 (General).

application sent: Friday 12.02.2010
application recieved: Monday 15.02.2010
fee deducted: Monday 15.02.2010
ack recieved: not yet

as mentioned above, I have sent the extension application before 3 days of my visa expiry date, do you think it would make a bad impact on the FLR decision? I am bit worried b/c not sure whether they consider postage OR arrival date?

awating for your early response. thanks.

Application date by post
The date of postage is used as the date of application.
The date of an application made by post is decided by the postmark. The payment handling service attaches the original envelope with all postal applications. If the envelope in which the application was posted is missing, or if the postmark is illegible, the date of postage is taken as at least one day before its receipt. The day of receipt is normally the date the payment handling service processed the fee. If there is any uncertainty, you will be given the benefit of the doubt.
Application date by courier
If you send your application by courier, the date it is received at the payment handling service is used as the date of application.
The payment handling service attaches the original envelope with all postal applications. The payment handling service includes the date of delivery for all applications by courier.

So they don't backdate the three years from the original expiry? Guess you get a couple of weeks free by applying late as possible!
