Webhunter,

Not quite correct. They usually give the reference number once they have received your application. They say "we can confirm we have received your application and it has been allocated the reference number...."
In my case:
Application sent: 27th Dec
Money taken: 3rd Jan
Confirmation that application received and the ref no given: 6th Jan

Still under consideration but my case is very unique and a number of queries may be raised in relation to my past immigration history so I do not expect a decision soon.

I am in the same boat as Nizamam
I have also been refused Senior level experience points and have applied for a review.
I have applied on 16th Jan.

Nizamam: Whn did you apply for the review and when did you get the result?
Did they change any points in the review or is the status exactly as it was?

My applicationi was delivered at frontdesk on Dec 30, still have'nt received a reference number.

I will try not to panic because Jackpot_ser's application was delivered at frontdesk on Dec 29, and he received the reference number on Jan 17th.

What I am confused is how and when they give this reference number, if it is issued just on reciept we should have got the ref num, long time back.

Anyway will hold my breath and wait till the end of the week before I take any action :-)

Don't worry webhunter... to the best of my knowledge, they deduct the payment first and then it goes to the evaluation team who give the reference No and start the case.
You can check with the Credit card company..if it has been charged then the process has started.

if it as not been charged then maybe you need to call up HO and check.

cheers!

I just received the documents with the approval letter on Jan 18,2006. They didn't bother sending me an email.

Nizamm,
Dont try for another review. Please go for paid appeal(Fresh Case). Many cases were approved on 2nd application. Also note that on second application, the case worker is always different.

How are people usually receiving the reference number?, Is it through email or by post?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Webhunter, I got my reference number by e-mail. I wrote only my e-mail address on application form. By the way, I think something wrong with your agent, you should call and ask them about your status anytime. Follow up your status anyway you want, ask them neither they got your post or not, cause my caseworker told me that I forgot to write down my residential address and my profession on application form, this should be why I got my reference number so late. I called Home Office on Friday and learned that they sent me the result and my original documents on Wednesday(19 jan), so crossed my fingers and hope for the best...

Thanks Jackpot. I will try to find some information from the agent. All I hear from them is "Be patient, as soon as we hear from Home Office, we will let you know the details".

Good luck to you Jackpot. Hopefully there is an approval for you in the mail.

I just called up my agent again. He said that they received the reference number on Friday. I did'nt bother to ask what the reference number was as I believed them

So folks, who ever is desperatly waiting for the reference number, here is some info.

Applied Under 28
Received Home Office on 30th Dec ( but there were bank holidays till 2nd of Jan)
Received Reference no : 20th Jan
Decision not taken yet ( but likely to get it this week ).

Patience is the virtue ( for atleast 3 to 5 weeks)

I called up home office today and learned that they say they have received the application on Jan 10th, where as Royal mail says it delivered on 30th of Dec.

I did'nt submit the payslip for December as posted in December, but if they claim that it is received on Jan10th, then they would ask for the December payslip as well, is'nt it ?

Secondly they said that your case has been assinged to a case worker. Does that mean I am likely to get a decision very soon?

Thanks.

Hello All,

Firstly congratulations to those who have gotten approvals. I am also a Dec applicant.

Out of Country applicant (Australia), Under 28.

HSMP received on 22/12/05
Reference number mailed to home address in early January.

Still no word on status of application. Seems everyone else who applied around the same time already know. Should I call the Home Office to ask? I don't want to be a nuisance....but the waiting is hard.

Since you have received the reference number early january, I think it is a good idea to call up HO once and find out whats happening.

Very true indeed, just to give you some prespective, in the second half of 2004, the waiting times had moved to 40-44 weeks for a decision.

Indeed patience is a virtue - which I am sorely lacking. I succumbed and emailed them for status of my application. I hope that doesn't annoy them but the waiting is hard. Even if they tell me that it's currently assigned to a case worker I would feel better...

No problem in sending them an email and asking them for a status. It should not annoy them. It happens all the time. Sometimes the volumes of enquiries are so high that they dont always respond to all the emails on time.

I emailed them last week and got the reply that decisions cannot be given over email and to call them.

I called them just then and was told my application has been allocated to a case worker and it is still being processed. It's been almost 2 months, I'm wondering what formula hsmp uses to allocate these applications, why other applications sent later have already been processed (ie. Jan applications).

Does it mean that they are going through my application more thoroughly, or if there is some problem with it?

I'll continue being patient for a few more weeks....
