PSW application- Reference Number on entry clearance or visa

Can anyone please help me with Section D4 of PSW visa application form.

It asks for "Reference Number on entry clearance or visa"

There are two numbers on my visa
1. Red 9 digit number on the right hand corner.
2. VAF number just below visa expiry date.

Which number to use as Reference number in the application. Please help.

The one on the top right hand corner of your Visa

VAF is your application ID that give access to your application form

1. Its the red number.

I called up Home Office today to enquire about visa reference number. It is indeed the longer 9 digit number printed in red.

Then why does it say on here that it is the VAF number?

Even I was confused with the difference of opinion. Hence I telephoned the UK Border agency customer care and asked them. Even the person who answered me was not sure which number was correct one. She had to ask another colleague to confirm that it is indeed 9 digit number in RED . She even told me not worry about it, if there is a mistake then the caseworker will have your passport to check into. So everyone, donot be too nervous and lose your sleep over it. Relax and take it easy.
