Switching to Tier 2 under Transitional Arrangement A (wp)

Hi, I am going to switch to Tier 2 under Transitional Arrangement A for work permit holders. My current visa doesn't expire until September but I would like to apply early as I am going to be out of the country on business from May to August.

So I was wondering how early can I apply to switch to Tier 2? If I apply now, will I be rejected by UKBA since I still have quite some time left in my visa? Couldn't find any definitive guidance on UKBA, as it only says "you should apply to stay as soon as possible and before your current permission to stay runs out. We encourage you to apply at least one month before your permission to stay runs out."
