It seems the time it takes to process an application is dependent on a few factors:
- applicants' nationality
- category of application, e.g. thru marriage vs skilled worker
- single or family application
- applicant's location, e.g. Wales vs Scotland
- details in the application itself, e.g. conviction?
- possibly a few more like the efficiency & workload of the caseworker assigned to your application!

Of these, nationality of the application may be most significant. I say this because when I called for NCS appointment, the first question they asked me was my nationality.

All the best to everyone still waiting.

I agree. Because we are all comparing our timelines against each other without knowing the nationality of the applicant, we get an unfair reflection of what timeline would be valid for our own application.

The standard format used to report timelines should have a line for nationality. That would give a much clearer picture of what timeline one should expect.

I'll start - I am from Pakistan so I did expect my application timeline to be longer than others, which to be honest is fair - the HO has to check me more thoroughly. The average time for approval overall is 36 days from submission to receipt of approval. I am currently on day number 38 having been told a decision has been made and the letter is on the way.

Hi Guys,
I dont think nationality or living area matters much. I am from Pakistan and I was thinking that it would take longer but I got approval letter exactly a month after application (although the post date was 5 days earlier, from date of acknowledgent to date of postage of approval letter it took 15 days). I was told by NCS person that if there is no point on driving liscence / offence and your references are good it takes around three weeks.
However they sent the letter to different county council from what I mentioned in application. ( BTW I am still awaiting ceremony even after 20 days of approval).

Ninahdm, Son of the King
Great news. Congrats.

A quick question though, (to all members)

I have not submitted to UKBA any tax documents with my application. The NCS team only took copies of latest pay slip and employer's letter. Is it normal for UKBA to ask for further evidence on tax?

Perhaps paranoia !

@London102,
They need information to support your five years stay in UK may it me employer letter, P60 or other form. I did not submit any evidence of income for the application (i-e P60, Pay slip or Bank statements). I only gane NI number in the relevant column.

congrats to nina and King. Nina it was quite . u must be happy

london 102. Gradually you will start to panic more and more.

@ everyone,

i left a post in the main page but i am asking here also. may be it is not really any reason but as London said perhaps paranoid. i passed my life in the UK test but lost it. so i had to resit again as i cant get any duplicate copy of pass notification letter. when i applied for BC, i called home and ask do i need to write any thing about it or just send the current pass notifcation letter. they said just send the one i got, dnt need to mention anything. Now i am confused that have i done mistake.
