PEO Appointment for Tier 1 extens - What happens on the day?

Alright folks, I will be going for an in person interview to PEO for extension of my HSMP (now Tier 1).

Would like to know what exactly happens on the day of appointment - is it just like

- walk in, complete security check
- submit all documents
- wait until visa is stamped

Or will there be things like biometric, questions asked about my stay here or job etc?

Also, do I still need cover letters for everything? Will I have an officer sitting next to me and asking for documents one by one, then stamping my visa

, or is it a case of 'dump all documents, cover letters here, come back later' ?

Any tips will be much appreciated, especially those who have had an in person appointment recently - hope this thread will help future applicants too.
