Tier 2: Dependant application

Hi all, I am from Japan and my English is not very good.

My husband is already working in UK as a Tier2 holder. I am going to apply for the dependent pass to stay (maybe to work) in UK.

I look at the application form and I have question:

1) Who is the dependent and who is the applicant in this case? I am now in Japan and I am going to apply this myself in the UK embassy in Japan. So I am the applicant?

2) Is it legal to work in UK as a dependent pass holder?

You are the dependent since your visa depend on your husbands visa.

Yes, you can work and study on a dependent visa.

You are the DEPENDENT
Your Husband is the MAIN Applicant

Yes you can work in UK while you are on Dependent visa (as per the rules now)
