Can you please tell me the Initial visa validity of Tier1 (General Application) these days. I recently apply for Tier1 ( just an initial application , not an extension) , just 1 week before.

Visa validity means the duration of TIer1 (2 years or 3 years) just to avoid confusion.

Thanks mate.
All i say is there is no need to panic unnecessarily in fact apply as early as possible. I know few friends who applied 4/5 months in advance...thats bit too much but applying two months before is bit safer in case of rejection you can apply again.

Pain lies in fee of 820£ paying again, honestly I was not afraid to go back from where I am in case of rejection.

Other thing is enclose record delivery envelope that makes delivery faster and importantly assured relative to normal delivery.

Good Luck to all those in waiting list.

Approved!!! Hooray!!!

Post by kronkonite » Sat Feb 20, 2010 3:37 pm

Applied 21st Jan - Thursday
Home office received 22nd Jan - Friday
Visa expiry date 28th Jan - Thursday
Acknowledgement dated 27th Jan - Wednesday
Received acknowledgement 30th Jan - Saturday
Received paperwork and passport - 20th February Saturday
Visa approval later dated - 18th February 2010 Thursday

Valid until - 18th February 2013

Interestingly, the validity is from the date of issue i.e. 18th February and not from 29th January..... this seems to be a moot point with some consultants stating that one can apply five to six months in advance and still get a visa extended from the original date of expiry.....

I had enclosed a self addressed special delivery envelope. I was quite surprised to get it on a Saturday as I thought that they would have to pay extra for a Saturday delivery.

I paid by postal order as this is the fastest mode of payment and I had only a week left on my HSMP.

Income shown was salary from employer plus dividends from my own company.

documents sent -
1. 12 months' payslips
2. maintenance funds - 3 months bank statements.
3. personal bank account statements showing salary and dividends. the payments were highlighted with a marker, I used different colours for the salary and the dividends.
4. business bank account statements showing dividends clearly marked. these were the dividend payments transferred to the personal account.
5. a gross income breakup showing the gross salary month by month from jan 2009 to dec 2009 and monthly dividend payments from may 2009 to dec 2009. this is to make it easy for the caseworker to understand exactly how much was earned in every month.
6. draft accounts for my company with accountant's report, profit and loss and balance sheet.
7. dividend vouchers and minutes of directors meeting for every month from may 2009 to dec 2009.
8. income statement prepared by my accountant stating the total income earned by me including salary and dividend income.
9. payment/invoice summaries prepared by my accountant for the income generated by my company.
10. A letter from my employer. the only reason I had to put in this letter was because the company employing me changed their name and half the bank statements showed the old name so I just wanted this point clarified.

I wish everyone else good luck.....

many thanks :-)

Good to see people around my app date (21/1) getting theirs back.

Think I've done something stupid though - the dependant app form I supplied with my main app was 6/1, not 15/1.

I saw references to a "grace period" for old forms here...
http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=298073

...not sure if it applies to this change though. Would be interested to know what ppl think might happen.

HSMP Extension

Post by drawat » Mon Feb 22, 2010 3:26 pm

dear All,

I have been reading the blogs in this forum for a while and have found all the information and messages really beneficial.
However i am in a strange situation.
I opted for the premium services for my HSMP sextension, Having all my paper work in Place.
I submitted the documents to the case worker at the Croydon office.
I am claiming earning points based on Self employment and employment .
I have submitted all invoices raised for the self employement and the amount reflecting in my bank statement.
However since some of the payments were made my Cheque ( Scanned Copies Submitted ) and one made in cash.
The case worker disputed them as payments from my suppliers as the cheque number or the name of the supplier does not reflect in my statement. Since they were cheque payment, the bank statement reflects and x amount paid in on x date.
I have also provided a reference letter from each supplier confirm the payment amounts, the dates and the invoices they relate too.
I have also sumbitted a letter from the Chartered account confirming my earning for the year.
they have now decided to to send my invoices, bank statement and payments for verification.
Any one aware of such a senario and what is the possible outcome.

Thanks a million in advance

If you are talking about the below question in Dependents application form:
B14. Points Based System migrant reference number (if known):
You can leave that blank..

hey so you havent yet recieved any response yet, have you tried chasing them.
was it your extension or a first time application?
have you thought of speaking to any immigration lawyer?

Does anyone know of any immigration lawyer who has been successful in such cases.

BS.. Is this ur Initial Tier1 application as Main applicant? i dont remember ur background so this question..

In both cases you can leave this Question as BLANK.. even if it is an extension..

This question is required to be filled if your application is in process with UKBA and already have HO Reference Letter and NO with you and you are sending additional info by application or filling ur depedent application

which is not the case here.. so leave it BLANK

Limited Company Salary and Accountant Issues

Post by satishtn » Tue Feb 23, 2010 1:35 pm

Hello all,

Firstly sorry if I am repeating a question already answered elsewhere, as I am tight on time and have come back to the forum after a long break.

I am going in for extending my HSMP under Tier 1 extension. I have 20 (age)+ 35(edu) + 5(UK exp) = 60 points not considering the previous earnings. And I have a few issues with that I am looking for advice/ suggesstions/ outright help (for some accountants out there). I am listing them:

1. My Visa expires April 30 2010
2. I was in a permanent employment till Sep 09
3. I started a limited company and went freelancing from Oct 09 onwards. So, have been at it for 5 months now
4. I havent 'paid' myself yet and was thinking will do it at year end. I have already reimbursed myself for some expenses (laptop etc)
5. 4 means I havent completed a PAYE yet

The Home Office wants me to prove my salary and I need to pay myself a little. Also, I do my own taxes and stuff, but HO insists on a letter from an Accountant saying I have been paid £X from XYZ Ltd (my own company) to enable me to claim points.

Money is not a problem, the procedures are. I am in need of

1. Good accounting advice on how I can pay myself after having a look at my previous statements
2. The HO letter.

Any help would be much appreciated

cheers
satish
