Can a mother get citizenship through a son?

Post by Masterixas » Wed Feb 17, 2010 7:36 am

This may be a question with an obvious answer but anyway here it goes:

Can a mother, who is not a Britisih citizen, request British citizenship because her 3 year old son is a British citizen?

Lets suppose something happen and the child loses his father and the mother has not therefore the right of abode under the husband since he died or left for example neither is she an EEA citizen or holds a PR yet, can't she surely request a British passport in order to stay in the country and raise her child since the child is a Birtish passport holder and has the right to remain?

Thanks in advance.

Citizenship not possible just because of the son.

However what is the mother's UK immigration status? In the UK on a spouse visa? ILR? Please explain.
