BOC registration

Post by Ms H » Thu Feb 18, 2010 5:03 pm

Hi everyone,

I urgently need help in regards to how I apply to get my BOC (BRitish overseas Citizen). I do qualify but I dont know how I can apply. I mean what is the procedure and what forms to use. I cant afford to get legal help as I am not earning that much. Please let me know any information. Ii have searched every page of UK Borders agency but nothing has come up that could help me....

Thank you in advance.

The following should be useful:
1. Who is British Oversees Citizen
2. Can I register as a British citizen if I am a British overseas citizen, British protected person, British subject or British National (Overseas) with no other nationality?
3. Application types
4. Applying

regards

I wonder if you realise that, for most intents and purposes, being a BOC is pretty worthless, particularly if you're already a Commonwealth Citizen anyway. And it's rather messy if you're a citizen of a country that doesn't permit dual nationality.

Would be interesting to see the OP's motive for wanting to become a BOC...

U need to be careful, the Malaysian Goverment considers the acquisition of BOC status to mean automatic relinquishment of Malaysian Citizenship putting yourself in limbo and making you effectively stateless. This won't mean a right to ILR as you have made yourself stateless and the 2002 Act makes provision to bar that.

Hi, I don't know if you read the staronline. If you have not, please do. A lot of M'sian BOCs are stuck here. It maybe best to see if you have other options before stepping in. Just evaluate the situation after you finish reading. It's a long hard journey.
