Getting maried on a visit Visa

Post by ali541 » Sun Feb 28, 2010 6:40 pm

Hello all. I know somneone who has met someone abroad iin pakistan. He wants to know wether he can call her here on a visit visa and marry her here in the uk. Is it possible to do this.

If he applies for a 6 month visit visa will he have to wait for those 6 moonths to be up and then spend 2 years before she could apply for her ILR.

Are you refering to the usual visit visa or the marriage visit visa? The latter is granted for the very purpose of getting married in the UK. IMHO, coming to UK on a "usual" visit visa and then applying for marriage in the UK may be viewed as using deception. For information on how to get married in the UK, see Certificate of Approval.

Whay can't the someone you know marry in Pakistan the someone he met in Paksitan and then apply for dependent / spouse visa for that someone from Pakistan? No waiting for COA, convenient and (perhaps) easy on pockets too!

And, please post your queries in the appropriate forum.

regards
