Dear All,
I have another type of confusion. I got my TIER 1 General visa from November 2009. And I am living in UK for the past 3 months. Now I got married in January 2010 and my wife applied for dependant visa on 23 February 2010 to join me in UK. I have showed Rs.1,30,000 (£ 1600) from Indian Bank in India. Now one of my friend is confusing me that I have to show equivalents of £ 1600 + £ 800 (Which should be my maintance fund).
Please clarify my doubts.
Many Thanks,
Senthil

My wife applied for TIER 1 (General) depandant visa and waiting for the result.
Visa applied on: 23/02/2010. Applied at: VFS Chennai.
Document sent to BHC on: 23/02/2010.
No change till today

Actually I have seen somewhere in the forum only that you have to show 2800 (for yourself)+ 1600 (for your dependent) + 800 (i dont know what for this), even I am confused. When a guy is already in UK then why he have to show 2800 again only 800 should do.

Seniors please clear the doubt. Thanks.

According to the Policy guidance you have to show 800(self)+533(dependant) if the tier 1 holder is in UK for more than an year and 800(self)+1600(dependant) if less than an year. But, there are instances where members of this forum have just shown maintenance for their dependant and have got visa. The above is in regards to when applying for dependant visa alone.

40. If the Tier 1 Migrant is outside the United Kingdom or has been present in the United Kingdom
for less than 12 months, each family member of the Tier 1 Migrant must show that he/she, the Tier
1 Migrant, or (for children) his/her other parent who is also legally present in the United Kingdom
has at least £1600 to support him/her; this is in addition to any funds the Tier 1 Migrant needs to
prove he/she has enough money to support himself/herself.
41. If the Tier 1 Migrant has been in the United Kingdom for 12 months or more, each family
member of the Tier 1 Migrant must have £533 to support himself/herself.
42. For example, the Tier 1 Migrant has been in the UK for 6 months and is making an application
at the same time as his/her spouse and two children. He/she must show that he/she has £1600 for
his spouse and a further £1600 for each child, in addition to £800 required for his/her own support.
In total the family will require evidence that they hold £5600 in available funds (£1600 x 3 = £4800
+ £800).

Hi Guys,

I was reading this post and didn't understand the meaning of message 'Status Changed'. I 've applied for my wife's dependant visa on 19th Feb in New Delhi.

The status on VFS site says 'Under process at British High Commission'. Does this status change to something else as application progress forward.

Looking forward to your replies.

Thanks,
neoms21

Hi Smarty,

What is the normal time when one gets SMS or any message regarding the final decision? Its better to wait and watch at that time only rather than doing it regularly..

Still waiting for my decision!!

Hi Smarty,

Sorry I was not clear with my question. I meant to ask that at what time during a day do they send the SMS? Someone in this
forum told that it is sometime around 9 PM in the evening.

Can you please tell at what time during the day u got the SMS from VFS Delhi?
