Who is the certified translator

I have a marriage certificate and a birth certificate. I did the translation in my home country but by looking at some of the threads here I think DoJ requires the translation to be done from Ireland.

Is that correct?

If, yes then can I get the list of certified translator.

Can any body tell me from his experience if somebody did the translation from above and accepted by DoJ?

Dear Eagle100,

Although I'm not familar with your particular case, I can offer you some general advice on certified translations.

A certified translation incorporates a copy of the original document, the translation and a declaration by the translator stating that they have provided a true translation.

For official purposes, I advise you to have the translation done by either member of one of the following:
- the IoL (Institute of Linguists) www.iol.org.uk- the ITI, (Institute of Translation and Interpreting) www.iti.org.uk/indexMain.html- the ATC (Association of Translation Companies) www.atc.org.uk/

As a member of the ATC each page of our translations are stamped, signed and embossed and I think this is generally the case for certified translations.

Go to DCU (Dublin city university Glasnevin) in the department of applied languages and they will certify it for you.
there are some private firms who do translation jobs but i would recommend DCU as they have a whole deprtment of differnt languages of the world.
Contact the main university switch board on : 01-7005566 and ask for DCU applied languages centre. hope that will help

Thanks alot zafarzafar ok I will go with DCU. But should I need to send the translation copy received from DCU or can I make a photocopy of that and then get it certified by solicitor to apply for natuarlization.

This is what application form says. I am not too sure what it means

Certified copy of original Long Form Civil Birth Certificate for applicant and certified translation if not in English or Irish

Because, for my wife I will apply later on. That is why asking whether translated document need to be sent to DoJ directly or after photocopying and certifying it. Many Thanks.

DCU will give you 2 or 3 copies which would be originally stamped and signed by a certified translator. so you can send one copy to DOJ and keep the rest in ur record.

Today I got the certified translation from DCU. However, they stamped it Not SIGNED it. Is it Ok?

Stamp is enough, it doesn't matter if it not signed.
