Congrats. That's ridiculous. They are meant to sent the documents back via recorded delivery as mentioned on the UKBA site and not second class.
I've made the same mistake. Have not attached a SD envelope :-(. Hoping to get my passport and docs back.

I'd recommend using special delivery to receive your passport from the Home Office. The week long delay for Royal Mail 2nd class and the resulting stress wasn't worth the £10 I saved!

FYI - it was sent recorded delivery, also second class. I think it took a week to get to me i.e. 25/2 visa stamped 4/3 package received. This immigration system is still more efficient and fairer than most other countries, so I do salute the UK Border Agency.

Tobay I've got back my T1 visa (Initial application, paid for by postal orders).

So my timeline:
27 Jan 2010 - Sent off T1 app by the SD;
28 Jan 2010 - Received at Home Office;
6 Feb 2010 - Date on acknowledgement letter;
2 Mar 2010 - T1 visa endorsed in Sheffield;
4 Mar 2010 - Received my documents by SD.

So many thanks to the Home Office and UKBA for prompt consideration and handling of my application. Well done! Now I can continue my academic career. :-)

Congrats buddy !!

Just wanted to confirm on the details printed on d Visa as I got mine as well today.
It reads as 'Residence Pemit' on the Top and the Type of Visa reads as 'Tier 1 (General) Migrant'
Is this correct?

Post by tomappu » Tue Mar 09, 2010 3:05 am

My timelines:

Type: Tier1 (G), VFS Bangalore, India

Application Dispatched to BHC : 15th Feb 2010
Status Changed on Under Process BHC: 20th Feb 2010
Status Changed on Processed Visa couriered : 3rd Mar 2010
Got the Documents with Visa on : 8th Mar 2010

There was a delay in courier, Called up VFS, Got the Courier Number,

I know there is a 2 day strike at the moment - but just in case wondering if anybody has heard anything from Home office? Going through the chain of messages it seems that last processed application was for 30/1/2009. Please correct me if thats not the case.

Many thanks

During the week commencing 8 March 2010 we expect to be considering applications that were received on or before 10 February 2010. This timescale is a guideline only, and some cases may take longer to consider

I am also still waiting for my passport. Hopefully will get it by the end of this week or early next week. I have enclosed a SD envelope and have noted down the ref no. and am desperately tracking it every couple of hours. Will let you know if I get a hit.
