I fully agree with all of you. The INIS works in a patchy, adhoc and disparate manner albeit they have begun to get their act together. So let's hope that we shall all be sorted over the next few weeks. Thank you Deception-Shy and manifere for your supportive words.

Hi!

A friend of mine received her cert. today after almost 4 1/2 years. Her timelines are as follows:

1. Applied on the basis of being spouse of an Irish citizen.
2. Applied: June 2005.
3. Acknowledged: July 2005.
4. Additional documents: Sept 2008.
5. Granted: 12-03-2010.

Hey Mad

Thats incredible timeline, I'm sure you friend must have frustrated with the system. In UK it take less then 45 days to process a Naturalization application, though number of people applying for citizenship in UK is much more then Ireland. The reason of fact could be that foreigners coming to ireland has started in the late 90's and Irish govt dont have a proper system to deal with these. Anyway, cant complain about life here !

Hi!

I just want to ask a couple of questions from you guys:

1. I applied through a solicitor. So would my approval letter come to the solicitor to me directly or would go to the solicitor?

2. My address changed in the not so distant past but I have not formally notified the INIS yet. Though, I have sent them a couple of letters with my new address written on the top left of the letter. So if they sent the letter to my old address can they blame me for it?

3. If by some chance the letter goes to the wrong address then what happens? Can they revoke my approval or something?

I am very worried about this all so I'd appreciate your help in this regard.

I can help for no 3. I know a friend who changed his address and INIS sent him approval. He did not know. He got to know about a year later when he went to renew his stamp 4. He was still given.

Hi Mad

if you send letter to INIS, they would change the address on their system and acknowledge the same to you by writing letter to the new address.

The best thing to do is give a ring to INIS on Tue/Thur and check your address on their system. IN my case they had a slightly wrong address on their system and the lady corrected while I was on phone.

You should have changed your address long back, what have you been doing till now? Anyways, they wont revoke your citizenship, once its approved its approved doesn't matter where you live. Your application processing is at the fag end, you better correct your address ASAP to stop any further delay....Good Luck Mate.
