Bachelor of engineering

Hello all,

Simple doubt...can I show my Bachelor of Engineering as a professional examination instead of Bachelors degree?

Bachelors degrees are only worth 30 points in the new system. But 35 if the degree was from a UK university (30 points for Bachelors + 5 points uk experience).

If the online PBS calculator recognises your education institute, you don't need to apply to NARIC to get a letter. If not, then you must apply to NARIC and get a letter indicating it is a recognized degree and you can claim points on it.

But how is possible to claim 35 points for bachelors ?? if that was the case, many would have qualified last year itself... can u please explain?

30 points = Bachelors
5 points = UK experience.

If your degree isn't from the UK then its only 30 points.

thanks for the info.... However,i have bachelors degree from O.U, A.P india... in PBS , when i select 'Professional examination' it shows my UnIV and its giving 35 points... but is that acceptable, if i apply like that?

In the current online PBS calculator? The current online PBS calculator hasn't been updated for the new Tier 1 rules yet. It is only these new rules that allow Bachelor's degrees.

Are you confusing your Bachelor of Engineering degree with a masters of engineering degree from your university? Masters degrees are worth 35 points in the current PBS system.

As far as I know, Bachelors degree like BE, Btech are not professional examinations. CA, CS etc are professional examinations.

Is it 12 + 4 years (B.tech)
or
12 + 3 ( BSc, Bcom) etc.

I believe USA accepts minimum 16 years (Btech) as Bachelor.
How it is in UK?

In the present PBS, which gives bachelors 0 points.... but instead of selecting bachelor as my qualification... i selected 'professional examination' and after that , the drop box has list of univeristies and in which if i select O.U and then course subject as 'engineering' it gives me 35 points.. i m wondering if thats the case.. then can i apply like that ..

because with the new rules, my previous earnings are coming to 52,000 Gbp and i m getting only 30points and for education- 30 pints and age 10 points and i m still less of 5 points....

so please advice if i can apply using professional examination.

i have another question, if the pbs shows 35 points for professional examination(bachelor of engineering), then it should be accepted right? because if they go by pbs points system, they should approve my application... what say abt this?

bachelors is bachelors not professinal examination.
u will 30 point for bachelors of engineering from OSMANIA UNI , hyderabad and not 35 as you think.

this is also after 6th april2010.

12+4 or 12+3, doesnt really matter. As long at the concerned degree is treated equivalent to UK degree by NARIC. BSc, Bcom etc are also treated as bachelors and also B.tech etc as well.
