New Rules for Tier 1 (and Tier 2)

Post by akshay.kumar1729 » Sat Mar 20, 2010 1:43 pm

New rules announced on March 18 - http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/siteco ... -t2-and-ir

Summary of changes [PDF] - http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/siteco ... -of-policy

These come into effect on April 6 2010.

Major changes:
1. Master's degree no longer mandatory. In fact a degree (even a Bachelor's degree) is no longer mandatory at all because all 75 points from category A can be acquired from previous earnings.
2. Easier to score points for the age column.
3. Much harder to score points under previous earnings column. The brackets have been significantly raised and even the range of each salary bracket is higher and therefore the progression is slower.

In general it will become more difficult to acquire a Tier 1 visa.
