BRINGING WIFE AND KIDS TO UK

Post by rafcrown » Tue Mar 23, 2010 7:34 pm

I have ILR (based on work permit )and planning to apply for citizenship.I still have my wife and children in Nigeria. The children are under 16 -3 boys.
How do i go about this?Would they have to wait for several years again before obtaining ILR.
Please advice .

In this order, in accordance with current legislation :-
  • your wife would apply for a spouse visa and the children apply for child settlement visas. All such visas would be for 27 months, if granted.
  • After nearly 2 years in the UK they would apply for ILR
  • apply for Citizenship, your wife when she has been in the UK for 3 years, and for the children after getting their ILR.
Particularly this close to a General Election, there is of course no guarantee what the legislation will be in years to come.

Any reason why the family have not applied to come to the UK before now? When did you last see them? How do you keep in contact with them?

Thanks a lot for the good advice.I travel home every year.I was not sure whether i will get PR in the UK due to the frequent changes and the numerous legal challenges .I decided I should be perfectly sure of my stay first before bringing family .Whats the point bringing family members and finally the main applicant being rejected.Another major issue is finance ,economy and job situations in the country.I constantly travel home and i call them nearly on daily basis.
Thanks.

You previously said you have ILR, so why are you now talking about PR? Don't understand.

could you please clarify '' numerous legal challenges?''

Were you here illegally and then claimed asylum or Discretionary leave to remain?

I think you will have to explain your immigration status before specialist advice can be given to you

Mochyn read his first post..
He clearly said he has ILR based on work permit.

How can you advise when you can not read basic details?

So be quite and dont waste our time.

Lynnuk, you are right, but I agree with mochyn, as rafcrown perceives he might have a problem, it would be good and helpful to hear why that is the case.

You are treading a thin line mate! My guess is u r using a proxy and the mods will know sooner or later - honesty, why are playing these games? Have you got mental problems? If you have please see a Doctor, the mods on this site aren't stupid, you seem to lack intelligence if you think you can take them on, they have all the cards.

I have Indefinite Leave To Remain and wish to apply for citizenship towards the end of this year 2010.
I just need full details of what i need to do to bring wife and kids over in terms of suitable acommodation, how much to have in the account before bringing them, visa status etc.
I value your great advice.I want to make sure i process their visas accurately to make it become a reality. Thanks

@John
I now have ILR but i stated that i did not bring them on time because of the numerous legal challenges concerning changes to immigration rules-changing or moving the goal post issues.I did not know my fate when they dragged Home Office to Court but now that i have ILR i can move ahead.
