ACCA student wish to switch from PSW to Student Visa

Post by accaer » Fri Mar 26, 2010 8:33 pm

Hi,

I came to UK in sept. 2006 to pursue my Masters in Financial Mathematics from University of Leeds Business School. I finished in 2007. Then applied for PSW, also started my ACCA. But didn't pass any exam. Now my PSW is going to expire on 7th May. I wish to start my ACCA now. I have 3 questions.

1. Can I eligible to apply Student Visa after availing PSW. If yes, can I get student visa to continue my ACCA which I left in between around 1.5 years ago. Although I got exemption for F1,F2 & F3 because of my Masters.

2. Do I need to enrol with some tution provider (e.g Kaplan etc.) before applying for visa. Or I can apply just by showing my enrolement with ACCA itself.

3. For how long will I be granted visa if it will take around 1.5 years to finish ACCA.

Please share your experiences about getting student visa on basis of ACCA. How tough its to get visa on the basis of ACCA.

Thanks.

if yr psw is finishg early May! it is better u join a class with listed tution provider NOW to write 2papers in june ! . BUT, u have to register for at least 6pprs to be recogniced as Int. student and given d required documents for yr applicatn processg. if u can afford more(as i can see u have 11papprs(14-3) left, there is high chances that u get 2yrs+4months visa. They expect u to b passg at least 1 or 2 paprs at sitting averaging 3 or 4 per year. U can always extend to write remaining papers bt must be showing d evidence of passing...!

Also note that u must meet up with d new T4 regulations as per d AMOUNTS u need to disclose as a general/adult student T4 (I'm nt sure bt u can ask others wether prevoius student visa b4 PSW qualifies for the 'reductn in d disclosed amount')

I write ACCA bt nt a student and I hope I'v helped a bit.

Hi crownvictory,

Thanks so much for your detailed reply. Do you think I can register and sit for June Exams now? I think the deadline date for registering has passed already.

I meet all other financial requirements but not sure if I can sit for June exams.

Thanks

June result wld come out sometime in Augst when lectures/tution wld officially commenced. Yr current visa expires in May as u said. Find out if d new rule wld allow u to 'hang arround' for like 3months!

Tution providers wld register u anytime, as they only provide d lecture 4d exams. June exam can only become too late if u don't regstrd with d ACCA d paprs u intend to write b4 Augt 14th(i thnk)!

U'l not need to show HOffc d exams u are writg in June (as i believe. there4, If i were u i wld do just 1 now then 2 in Dec) BUT yr application must show tht u'v registerd for enough pprs (6 or more or all) tht wld last sufficient time as a bonafide student, with a LISTED T.Provdr.

I'm sure they'l guide u if u talk to d TP. Take care, mate.
