Each and every case is different and varies in complexity, which can't be determined by anyone here.

Read through the Case resolution directorate

If you are phoning to ask about an existing application to extend your stay or to settle in the UK, we can only provide an update if:
you applied more than 14 weeks ago under a category that does not require biometric information; or

I have seen some one recently getting visa after 2 years.
But you should be in touch with HO, since HO mentions that you can contact them regarding the status after 14 weeks

Its not mandatory that everybodies case will take 2years...

vks is giving a recent case time frame..

if your case have some pending verifications.. you have wait with patience

If you go to the very bottom of that auto reply it says 'If you have read this message and looked on the UK Border Agency website, but you have not found the information you require, please re-send your enquiry with "FAQ" in the subject/title line to: UKBApublicenquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk'

So send your query with FAQ in the subject line. In my opinion it is better to call and speak to somebody.

It will take 2 or 3 days to get a reply. Taking into account the long weekend, I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get a reply till mid of next week.

Thx for reply. Hope everything should be okay. Never see such delay in extension cases.
It will take 2 or 3 days to get a reply. Taking into account the long weekend, I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get a reply till mid of next week.
