Regarding Bank statement:

Post by Vamiq.khan » Tue Mar 30, 2010 11:47 pm

Dear All

If I am using a bank statement covering transactions from 5th Oct 2009 to 5th Jan 2010. Can I use this set of statements for an application lodging on 29th Jan 2010. Which is only 24 days old prior to making a visa application but covering 90 days of consecutive transactions.

based on what info you provided , literally speaking you are within law to submit those statement dates. But it does create a bit of suspicion(atleast in my mind) that why your statement ONLY shows EXACTLY 90 days and how come the date of issue of statement was more than 3 weeks before application submission date.

This may or may not prompt caseworker to do further enquiries which translates into increase in waiting period.

In hind sight, a more recent statement with dates covering more than 90 days should be ideal case.

But, caseworker cannot legally reject your statement as it satisfies the criteria.

Perfectly fine. It is within a calendar month of your application. Just go ahead.

I have submitted or seen submissions of many PSW applications in last 3 months.

In cases, where the bank statements were within 1 month of application, the visas were issued without any problem. In one case, where the statements were about 33 days old, the application was rejected (quite legally in my mind), and my view was that the applicant should have waited another day or two to get latest statements.

In no case, was the statement taken on same day, and they were all aleast 4-5 days old on the day of submission!

On a separate note, my personal view is that it would be very unhelpful of Home Office to expect bank statements to be retrived on the day of submission.

Imagine a case, when you apply in person and have to queue 7 or 8 in the morning. How is it humanly possible to draw fresh statements for that day?

Without starting a debate here, please refrain from providing such information.

Where is "so much uncertainity" around ?

The application requirements are very clear;

"Bank statements of atleast 90 days prepared within a month of the application made"
