Entry stamp codes on passport

Post by Jk2007 » Tue Apr 06, 2010 12:54 pm

I have been traveling few times outside UK. When I had LLR, on entry to UK, I observe that the immigration officer had stamped the passport with code *(6001)* once and *(5293)* another time.

After obtaining my ILR, I went out of UK for about two weeks and returned. I find that that the the immigration officer has this time stamped the passport with code *(6001)*

Any idea what these codes mean?

The Codes are actually the UK BORDER Agency employee Codes. So in the future IF they want to investigate who stamped your passport when you were entering UK , they can do it with that.

Not clear. Can you please clarify how the codes can be interpreted?

The UK Border Agency Employee Codes are specific for the employees and thus you can easily get the employee who had stamped the documents. This would help to minimize the amount of time required to track down what has happened.

Almost but not quite.

The numbers are actually stamp numbers which are specific
to the individual stamp and not the UKBA employee.
But yes you are correct in saying that the stamp/number
can be tracked to the individual IO who used the stamp on
a specific day.
